Salam and greetings to all. Today I would like to write a review of The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution from Deciem. I have thought about glycolic acid from The Ordinary quite some time. There are some people out there keep raving about it again and again. And it’s stuck in my head.
Actually there are four brands including The Ordinary I want to try their glycolic acid. I know I can’t afford all of them, that’s why I need to find comparison between four of them by comparing the price tag, pH level, and percentage of the glycolic acid.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid : RM50 (240 ml) for 7% of glycolic acid at pH 3.6
Krave Kale-Lalu-yAHA : RM100+ (200 ml) for 5.25% of glycolic acid at pH 3.5-4.0
The Inkey List – RM50 (Sephora) (100 ml) for 10% of glycolic acid at pH 3.6
Pixi Glow Tonic : RM100+ (250 ml) 5% of glycolic acid at pH 4.1
So, I decided to try The Ordinary. Becauseof it’s completely the most cheaper than the others three, with a not so high or so low percentage of glycolic acid plus the pH level is most effective.
If you feels tingling sensation your skin, or little unpleasant experience when using it, it is not because of pH level of the acid BUT depends on the percentage of of the acid

My Review
5/5 – So basically, this is my first exfoliate using AHA, before this I used Hada Labo Mild Peeling Lotion, which is Polyhydroxy Acids (PHA). I tried to step up my exfoliate game by using alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) . And yes it’s really worth it.
I’ve had this quite a while and used this toner 2 month already, of course great enough to write about it. This exfoliate toner contains 240ml for RM50 which really affordable compare to Hada Labo Mild Peeling Lotion which RM60+ for 170ml, but the comparison is not so unfair because Hada Labo use polyhydroxy acid while The Ordinary use alpha hydroxy acid.
When I first use this The Ordinary Glycolic Acid, I use once a week, then for the next week I use it twice, nothing worse happened on my skin. There only slightly tingling sensation but it’s not that bad, I still can handle it. And now I use 3 or 4 per week which good enough for me. As a result, my skin is in the nice condition, I noticed that my skin is glowing and less acne scars than before.
I’ve tried using it straight three days but it’s definitely not a good idea. Personally, I think I can’t use glycolic acid like every day on the pm routine. Some people may be able to use it every day on their pm routine, unlike me. Beside, all of us have a different skin. But, my advice is, you don’t need to exfoliate your skin every single day. Without realizing it, you can broke your skin barrier. Once or twice a week will be fine. As long as your skin can adapt it.
This glycolic acid has a strong acid scent with the yellow-ish color but my nose can still adapt to the scent. Unlike Hada Labo Mild Peeling Lotion which is the scent is totally turn me off.
How I use this exfoliate toner? Two or three times per week after cleansing, before moisturizer. I use it with facial cotton pad and dap dap it on my face and neck. Including the hair line. And then continue with moisturizer.
To sum up, if this is your first time using AHA, and you want a budget friendly exfoliate, with a delicate and mild one, this one may be suit you best. But before use it or any other of acid toner, make sure your basic skincare routine is strong enough (cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen)
DON’T FORGET TO USE SUNSCREEN EVERYDAY
